Personal Finances - Planning For The Future!

If you're hoping to make a big purchase in the future, consider beginning to track your finances today. There are some simple tips to help you improve your financial management skills.

Flexible spending accounts are a wise choice for most people. You won't be taxed for this money; therefore, you are saving more.

Consider adding international investments to your portfolio. No load mutual funds greatly reduce the expense involved in buying individual foreign stocks.

Set up your debit card to pay down your credit card automatically during the last days of the month. This will help keep you from forgetting.

Repair Your Credit Score

Having bad credit can be stressful and annoying. It's one of the main stumbling blocks to a successful life. It can prevent you from leading the life you desire and living your life to its full potential. It's not difficult to get back on track to good credit, so read the rest of this article to learn what you need to do it right.

Check your credit card carefully each month to ensure that there's no incorrect information. Should there be any mistakes, contact the company and talk to them to avoid being reported to the credit companies.

You should keep the balances on your credit cards low to help you fix your credit. By carrying a high balance, your credit score will suffer, even if you make timely payments every month.

You can contact your creditors and request a lower limit. This will stop you from racking up giant credit card bills, and show lenders you are responsible.

Bankruptcy Doesn't have the Take Everything

Many bankruptcy customers who sold some of their most important belongings to pay a statement figure out in the end that it simply was not enough to help out with the bills either way. Before you take into account paying an important item from your household or even the vehicle to pay some of the insurmountable personal debt you are facing, write down the monthly income as well as your regular monthly costs and evaluate if selling the vehicle, a collectible or some treasured precious jewelry will be worth it to balance the expenses. If you are unsure, talk to a Sacramento bankruptcy lawyer.

Ten Things to Know about Debt Collectors

1.       Debt collectors can exaggerate when they talk to you!  They can make things seem worse for you to encourage (and scare) you to pay! They just want your money.

2.       They are not your friend, no matter how friendly they may seem over the phone. They just want your money.

3.       Don’t worry about telling them all the events that have led to this problem in your life.  They don’t care.  They just want your money.

4.       They just want your money because they get a percentage of what you pay –it is how they get paid.

Bankruptcy Myths

Myth One: Bankruptcy relief is no longer accessible.

Virtually all of the relief formerly available through bankruptcy survives in today's bankruptcy code. It is a little more involved as well as somewhat more costly, however it still works.

Myth Two: You can't file bankruptcy if you have a career or job.

The new "means test" is supposed to divert some filers that make more than the median income for their state or geographical location to Chapter 13. The only manner to file a Chapter 13  is to HAVE a job. So, this is utterly untrue.

Benefits of Bankruptcy

Filing for bankruptcy can provide many benefits for those who are swamped with debt and can’t seem to get out from under it.  Consulting with a lawyer can help you determine the correct course of action, however.  Listed below are a few ways filing for bankruptcy can be of help.

1.)    Bankruptcy can legally “do away” with most, and in some cases all, of your debt.  This means you do not have to pay this “discharged” debt back.

2.)    In many cases, filing for bankruptcy can stop foreclosure.  You will gain the time to pay back payments due on your mortgage.

3.)    If your car or other property is in danger of being reposed, then bankruptcy can halt that procedure.  If it has already been repossessed then the creditor may even have to return your property to you.

Bankruptcies Drop As Customers Still Struggle

empty-pockets

The American Bankruptcy Institute findings from September 2011 showed fewer people filing for bankruptcy in September. Many seem to be reducing their spending, family debt and borrowing.

The U.S. customers seem to be making their credit card payments on time, late payments grew for other categories such as car and home loans according to the American Bankers Association's report they issued.

While overall bankruptcy filings by consumers could be 10% less than they were in 2010, the economic climate is not helping to lower those numbers.

Will a surge of bankruptcy filings come prior to December of his year? Or are Americans riding out this financial storm?

What is a Means Test?

For million's of Californians facing financial hardship, seeking a Sacramento bankruptcy Attorney for the purpose of filing for bankruptcy protection used to be a no brainier. Got too much debt? flush it away with a simple legal stroke of the pen with a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. This is otherwise known as declaring bankruptcy or personal bankruptcy. However, since lending institutions like can not use collection methods like Don Corleone in The Godfather, they used the next best thing... getting congress to put the proverbial squeezes on everyone's ability to declare bankruptcy with new legislation called a means test.

The state of Bankruptcy in Sacramento CA

Recent years brought about monetary changes in which Sacramento CA residents just weren't prepared and together with not being prepared in their life  for such a radical economic change, as a Sacramento Bankruptcy Attorney, I've heard thier stories many of which are heart breaking. For many people, fiscal security had gone away as house values plunged, careers were downsized, debts increased, and help was no where to be found. More People in the California are now facing the decision to declare themselves bankrupt.

As we shifted through The year 2010, the overall economy did not recover, and long term unemployment rates have stayed high. Good hard working and productive citizens have been recently unable to gain employment, have only found comperable emplyment on a much reduced pay compared to what they had earned prior to America's economic collapse. Companies stay away from layoffs by simply cutting back on salaries, beneifts and additional bonuses.

Sacramento: Leading US City Hit Hardest By The Recession

The Brookings Institution and London School of Economics study looked at cities in the US hit hardest by the current recession. Foreclosures Are More Profitable Than Loan Modifications, According To New Report

Here's an interesting article where you'll learn more than you ever wanted to about how the banks, loan servicers, and investors got us into this mess.  But if you want to learn more, make sure you read the accompanying report.

Fannie Mae Deed for Lease Program will let you rent your home instead of Foreclosure.  All this is not the same as owning your home, you pay less and you continue living in your home for at least one year.
